A TikTok Sensation
You might have seen the TikTok Baked Feta sensation go viral this past winter, and it did so for good reason. Pasta covered in cheese, tomatoes, basil, and garlic sounds just about perfect to me. In fact, it sounds so perfect that I decided to run with the idea and create a dip using similar ingredients.
Baked feta is nothing new. In fact, baked feta is a traditional mediterranean feta preparation often served with vegetables and pita. There's a Greek restaurant in Demarest, New Jersey called Yasou Mykonos that makes an absolutely delicious baked feta appetizer.
How to make Baked Feta Dip
All you have to do to make this recipe is place the feta, tomatoes, and other ingredients into a baking dish and place it in the oven. It's perfect for serving to friends because it's both very simple to make and incredibly flavorful.

This Baked Feta with tomatoes, olives, lemon, and hot honey makes a delicious baked feta dip, perfect for a delicious and fun appetizer.
- 2 thick slices of feta cheese
- 2 cups of grape tomatoes
- 1 cup of assorted olives. If you dont like olives (there are many of you, I've learned) but still want something briney, try canned artichoke hearts, strained
- 5 sprigs of fresh thyme, or your desired herb
- 2 Tb Hot honey such as this one OR 2 Tb regular honey and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- The zest from half of a lemon
- Salt, pepper
- Olive oil
- 1 loaf of Bread, such as Italian bread, cut into pieces or slices
- Preheat oven to 400F. Place feta into a baking dish. Surround the feta with tomatoes and olives and arrange thyme sprigs over the top. Drizzle hot honey onto the feta, then sprinkle with lemon zest and season with salt and pepper. Drizzle olive oil all over. Bake on the lowest oven rack for 20 minutes.
- While Feta is baking, prepare your bread. Place sliced bread on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and place in the oven on the middle or upper rack. Peek (without openeing the oven) every few minutes, until bread is crusty but not burnt. Use your oven light for this! Don't let the heat escape.
- When feta is done cooking, discard thyme sprigs and use a fork to smash and stir the feta, tomatoes, and olives. Make sure to do this while it's still hot so the feta is still very soft. Smash as much or as little as you'd like! If you want a smooth spread-like consistency, do a lot of smashing. For something chunkier, like mine, keep the smashing to a minimum. Use a slotted spoon to transfer mixture into a bowl, leaving behind most of the liquid that came out of these moist ingredients while cooking.
