Bacon-Onion-Mushroom-Loaded Red Cabbage Steaks

A delicious , colorful, and modern take on classic Irish flavors.

Step 1

Make the Bacon-Based Topping

Sauté Bacon, mushrooms, onions, and jalapeños, and bind it all together with a smidge of breadcrumb.

Step 2

Sear the Cabbages, and top with the bacon mixture.

The beauty of this recipe is that it all takes place in the same cast iron skillet.

Step 3

Bake until cabbages heat through and the cheese melts.

I personally love using yellow cheddar and red cabbage for their beautiful color contrast.


Serve with a dollop of sour cream.

The sour cream adds a nice cool, fresh element to this rich, comforting, flavorful dish.
