Ingredients
Scale
- 3-4 pears, peeled and cut into slices or wedges. Any variety will do.
- 1Tb unsalted butter
- 1Tb Light brown sugar (use whatever sugar you have. I find light brown sugar adds a soft caramel flavor without overpowering the natural flavor of pears)
- 1 whole cinnamon stick, or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4c white wine
- 1 oz whisky
Instructions
- Place pears, butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and salt into a medium saucepan and heat over a medium flame.
- Once the contents in the pot start to sizzle, cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the wine and whisky and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If liquid is still runny, cook for another 1-2 minutes, until most of the liquid has evaporated and the liquid that remains is syrupy.
